What were you doing before Fast?
I spent five months meditating and traveling for real estate conferences. Prior to that, I was at Human Interest designing the employees’ 401(k) experience.
Where did you grow up, and what were you like as a kid?
In San Francisco! I was reserved, artistic, and mischievous. I'm probably still the same, to be honest.
Why did you say yes to Fast?
The people I met during my interview process were people I wanted to be with for 40 hours a week. That was the deciding factor for me.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
Learning German well enough in less than a year to attend an Austrian design program.
When did someone’s kindness toward you make a big difference in your life?
A friend and mentor of mine created an internship program at her design agency so I could join. Backstory: I needed a job. My friend asked me if I was interested in working at her agency. I had no design background and embarrassingly showed up with a portfolio of paintings! But she saw an opportunity and created that program. I fell in love with design then, and it completely changed my life path.
What motivates you?
I just love exploring life. There are so many things you can do in this world, and there's so much you can experience in a lifetime. It's exciting. Adventures all over!
What’s your favorite book, film, or TV show?
“Beginners” – a quirky, heartfelt film about a man who realizes he is very much shaped by the historical context in which his parents lived. The visual storytelling is poetic, and there's a talking dog!
What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?
Do what feels good to you, instead of what you think you should be doing.
