Talk about your background leading up to Fast.
Before joining Fast, I was at Walmart. I was working on their networking infrastructure. And for the last seven years, I was mainly working on the networking side of clouds. So I was trying to get the best possible performance for anyone who was using cloud solutions. I have a master's degree in computer science.
How did you learn about Fast, and what made you say yes to joining the company?
I heard for the first about Fast from Peter (Grassi, Director of Talent Acquisition at Fast). He contacted me on LinkedIn. He said there is a small startup that is trying to change the world, wants to kill passwords, wants to make the fastest possible checkout, and he asked if I would be willing to join the company. So right away, when I heard the idea I loved it. I personally hate passwords.
Where did you grow up, and what were you like as a kid?
I grew up in Poland, in a small town called Ostrów Mazowiecka. When I was young, I loved playing video games, and my father would always say I was going to be a developer because I was spending so much time on the computer.
What was your first job ever?
I founded a startup that would revolutionize the dairy feeding process. I figured out a system that optimized the feeding and output of the milk from cows. I applied to this venture capital organization in Poland with my idea. I went through the application process, then I worked with multiple people, and there was a video that was presented on the business channel in Poland. I got a $25,000 investment. As a 19-year-old who was still studying computer science, I tried to build it but failed. I lacked experience and knowledge so I couldn't get it rolling. I created a product but was not able to sell it. Also, the idea was to get support from cow food manufacturers, but the product was showing their deficiencies so it was a missed shot.
What app on your phone do you use the most?
My whole family is still in Poland, so we chat on WhatsApp and do FaceTime a lot.
What food do you uncontrollably eat?
Nuts. I'm always going to the kitchen and grabbing a handful of almonds, and I'm eating them constantly all day.
Who's your favorite TV or film character?
Jason Momoa. I loved how he played his character in “See.” It was a weird TV series. Everyone is blind.
What was the last show you binge-watched?
“Good Girls.”
What personal goal would you like to achieve in the next five years?
In the next five years, I would like to be responsible for networking as well as our multi-cloud infrastructure. Both things are connected, and they're extremely important from the growth perspective for the company.
