Jim Kurdek, Senior Account Manager, Strategic at Fast

Jim Kurdek

Role: Senior Account Manager, Strategic

Team: Enterprise Account Management

What were you doing before Fast?

Most recently, I was in the customer success organization at Adobe, helping their largest financial services customers maximize the value in their Adobe investment. Prior to that, my career spanned several functions in the financial services industry, from sales, product marketing, product management, and digital strategy.

Where did you grow up, and what were you like as a kid?

I grew up in Northern New Jersey, about 45 minutes west of New York City.

I was a sports nut as a kid, always playing, watching, or reading about sports. I was weirdly very into commercials from a young age. My mom tells me I'd be playing with toys in front of “Sesame Street” and drop everything when the commercials came on. I also ate a ton of junk food as a kid. My friends would always want to come over on Mondays because they knew my mom had gone grocery shopping that day.

Why did you say yes to Fast?

The incredible talent and infectious energy are what initially drew me to Fast, and as I started to explore the opportunity, I started to realize what we are sitting on: E-commerce is the next frontier for digital transformation and driving the evolution of customer experience. Fast has the most complete story when it comes to redefining the shopping experience, and I could not be more excited to help bring that to the world. I also love that I can simply explain Fast to my 7-year-old son and my wife's 94-year-old grandmother.

What accomplishment are you most proud of?

My two kids, Leo, age 7, and Edie, almost 2, are pretty cool. Professionally, I’d have to say it’s been my ability to trust my instincts and embrace uncertainty through a not entirely linear career path. I’m proud that I have been able to consistently challenge myself and develop new skills while gaining exposure to so many different opportunities and perspectives. I’m beyond grateful to have such a supportive family and network, enabling me to repeatedly make these leaps.

When did someone’s kindness toward you make a big difference in your life?

The cumulative effect of surrounding myself with kind people keeps me centered.

Describe your biggest “aha” moment?

Early in my career, I pivoted my subject matter expertise to the world of digital. This shift completely re-energized me and gave me a whole new perspective on the level of satisfaction my career could bring me. I'm motivated by learning new things and being exposed to new ways of thinking. I am also excited by helping others succeed and achieve their objectives, whether that be my customers, colleagues, friends, or family.

What’s your favorite book, film, or TV show?

Growing up, “The Goonies” was my favorite movie. “The Wire” is the best show ever made, but I can never watch it again. “Friday Night Lights,” I've watched the whole series three times and counting. Texas forever!

What advice would you give your 18-year-old self?

Be nice, and drink a lot of water.
