Role: Technical Recruiter
Team: People Operations
Talk about your background leading up to Fast.
I got an HR internship when I was in college, and that’s where my interest in recruitment came from. I love working and connecting with people. After college, I got a job in recruiting at a finance company but didn’t feel connected to my work. One of my friends suggested technical recruiting, so I applied for a job at WeWork and got the job. This is how I became interested in the tech world.
How did you learn about Fast, and why did you say yes?
I was working as a technical sourcer at WeWork and was part of a round of layoffs due to COVID. I spent the next few months trying to find similar opportunities and found Fast on LinkedIn. I applied and started doing research about the company. I love that we have a female co-founder and are solving really impactful and interesting problems, especially during the pandemic when shopping has shifted online.
Where did you grow up, and where were you like as a child?
I grew up on Long Island in New York, and I was an outgoing kid. I loved to play outside. I was a really easygoing and happy kid.
What was your first job ever?
I was a camp counselor. I attended a local summer camp, and then when I was old enough, I applied for the job. It was a three-hour gig every day in the summer, and I thought it was the coolest thing.
What other career path did you almost take?
When I was working in financial recruiting, I didn’t feel like I had much of a track or purpose. I wanted to make more of an impact. I thought that I was going to go back to school and become a social worker, then I ended up getting the job at WeWork and realized that I really enjoyed recruiting. I was just doing it in the wrong industry.
What app on your phone do you use the most?
Instagram. It's an addiction. I'm trying to limit my time on it.
What food do you uncontrollably eat?
I love pickles. I also love pizza.
Who's your favorite TV or film character?
Kristina Braverman (“Parenthood”). I enjoyed her character. She's a really chill yet powerful woman. She's a mom of three kids, she goes back to work, she's a boss, handles it all with grace, and she's just really funny and always keeps a good perspective.
What was the last show you binge-watched?
What personal goal would you like to achieve in the next five years?
Some of my priorities have shifted since the pandemic. I’m trying to focus on the important things, like relationships with my friends and family as well as my career. In the next five years, I hope to see myself in a steady, thriving place in my personal and professional life. Maybe I will be leading a team of my own.
