Role: Enterprise Integration Manager at Fast
Team: Customer Success
Why did you join Fast?
I was looking for a change from the Northeast, so I decided on the Bay Area but wasn’t necessarily looking to switch jobs unless it was the right fit. When I came across Fast, I thought, “Filling out all those forms drives me crazy,” and applied right away. Fast’s product is just easy to understand.
What were you doing before?
I worked in customer service engineering for a small artificial intelligence startup in Vermont. I was employee number 13, so it was a great crash course in “Learn how everything works.”
I definitely prefer startups because the roles don’t feel as narrow.
Where did you grow up, and what were you like as a kid?
Beautiful Burlington, Vermont. The awkward middle child of three brothers, I was definitely the shy one growing up. I always felt a little more technical-minded and independent, but sports and theater were big in our household, so I had those to help round me out and get me out of my shell, even if I wasn’t thrilled about it at the time.
What accomplishment are you most proud of?
I had a sandwich named after me at my college restaurant: “The Wright Choice” (Grilled cheese with jalapeno poppers and cream cheese).
What’s your productivity hack?
Meditation and lists. Calm your mind, organize your to-do, then start at the top. Also, plan for the unexpected, especially in customer success. I aim for just a few main tasks for the day, knowing other work will come up during the day that needs to be prioritized.
When did someone’s kindness toward you make a big difference in your life?
All the time. One example is my former employer’s chief technology officer, who spent countless hours teaching me tech skills. I wouldn’t be here without him.
Living or dead, who would you like to interview and why?
My maternal grandfather. He died a year or so before I was born, but he was quite the character and lived quite the life. Plus, I’m told we’ve got a lot of similarities. I got to know the other three grandparents well, so it would be great to meet him and hear his voice.
Who is your celebrity doppelgänger?
I’ve heard both Evan Peters from “American Horror Story,” or Matthew Gray Gubler from “Criminal Minds.” I’ve never seen either show, but they’re both handsome, so I’m not complaining.
What is your top travel destination?
Really I just want a beach vacation, but as for an actual destination, someplace like Mongolia. I don’t know too many people who have been there.
Where do you see yourself a year from now?
At the top of the Fast ping-pong rankings.
