By Jason Alderman, Fastronaut #12
I’m admittedly biased. I already believe that Fast is one of the best companies on the planet and that every brilliant, driven, thoughtful, collaborative person should want to work here. But it was nice to get affirmation from an authoritative and neutral source, that Fast is, officially, one of the very best companies. Today, Fortune named Fast to their prestigious “Best Small and Medium Workplaces” list for 2020.
What makes this recognition particularly meaningful is that it is based on anonymous surveys of employees from Fast and thousands of other companies across the country. So this win really means that Fast’s own employees see us as the very best place to work.
Creating this culture is something that comes from the top, our Co-Founders Allison Barr Allen and Domm Holland are intentionally building a company where every single employee understands the importance of their work and how it fits in with our broader mission of eliminating passwords and bringing one-click checkout to the entire internet. Each Fastronaut embraces the idea that our work truly matters, recognizing that everyone’s individual contribution is equally vital to our mission and collective success. We trust each other and that trust is mutual at every level of the organization.
You can see that passion and dedication come through in Fortune’s survey results. Every single Fastronaut (fully 100% – not rounding up here) said that “Management is approachable, easy to talk with” as well as “Management hires people who fit in well here” and “Management trusts people to do a good job without watching over their shoulders.”
This has been a busy and exciting year for Fast, from raising our Series A led by Stripe to launching our one-click checkout product, Fast Checkout, neither of which would have been possible without the dedication, brilliance and innovation of our employees.
When we transitioned to a fully-remote workplace this year, we implemented changes to both preserve and further improve our culture. In June, we introduced a flexible work plan called Fast Flex, which gives every employee the freedom to choose where and when they work on a given day – at our offices (when it’s safe), at their home or any place in the world with a reliable internet connection. Although we rolled out Fast Flex during the pandemic, it’s a permanent change that gives our employees flexibility and enables us to hire the best talent.
We’re excited to celebrate what makes Fast one of the Best Workplaces. And we’re hiring – if you are interested in joining our growing team, check out our careers page. We need more of the best and brightest Fastronauts to help us fix the broken e-commerce checkout process and to build on our incredible culture so that we will always be one of the best workplaces in America.
